about
‘God Damn You’ unveils Maŕa’s exploration of falling in love, hard. She probes the insidious nature of all-consuming infatuation and the emotionally-exhaustive spirals that often follow a period of heightened excitement. “I’d love for the listener to create their own story,” she explains. “The source of your fascination could be a person, a creature, or a God. Whichever the being or entity is, it's revealed its dreams to you and there's darkness there with the inability to resist it. There’s this sense of drowning within the madness, finding yourself uprooted or lost, and being under its control. You’re powerless to its magnetism and part of you relishes it.”
lyrics
You are in the night, caressing my body.
You spoke to me, told me your dreams.
About the time, about your life.
I’ll be your dreams, about the darkness inside.
You told me, how to dress me, you told me how to be.
I fell so hard, yes. I don’t wanna think about who I am.
Oh, how I fell.
Oh, hot once I knew I couldn’t resist the way out.
And I liked and I liked your hands next to my waist.
Ohhh you fell.
Ohhh you fell so hard yeah, about all my dreams.
About the darkness inside.
You told me, you told me how to be.
I couldn’t resist the madness.
How to dress me, god damn and I fell.
Oh, I feel so hard yeah, oh who I am.
Oh, once I know I couldn’t resist the way out.
And I liked your hands next to my waist.
